Three Days Grace - Home Lyrics Meaning

Personally, I like to think of it as "coming down." Sure, it could be the literal meaning of what the song is saying; a disrespecting family.

To me, frankly, it's about drugs.

The entire first verse (not typing it all) seems to be about coming down from the high, and just not caring about what you're doing. "I can hardly wait to leave this place" is the realization of what he's doing, and he now knows it's wrong.

The chorus is the thought of needing the drug and not being able to support his addiction. I got this thought from watching an interview with Adam Gontier, the singer of the band, where he stated that he would basically be eating OxyCottin, daily. "No matter how hard I try, you're never satisfied." He tries to feed the addiction, but because it's just growing stronger, he's incapable of doing so. The second part of the chorus is the realization factor, that he doesn't need it, and he'd rather be without it.

The second verse is about continuously getting high, and his mind is nothing. "By the time you come home, I am already stoned" He's taking more, when he's already high. "You turn off the TV and you scream at me" His mind is just going mad, and instead of being happy and content with himself, he's getting mad about it.

Like I said at the beginning, this could be wrong, I don't know. It's just my interpretation of Home, and I like to think that it's right.
