Actually, I followed the Doors since their inception (1967). I’m old. Jim Morrison’s first love was the blues; he was fixated on sex, drugs, death, the latter being in The End, where he welcomes, mournfully, the end. His references to snakes and reptiles, were phallic. Back Door Man (written by Willie Dixon) was about both anal sex and cunninglingus with young girls, as referenced in “...eat mo’ chicken any man ever seen”. Rider’s On The Storm is about the dangers of life in general and the possibility that when he hitchhiked and the people picking him up were really were taking a chance. He could have been a serial killer. Jim loved L.A. (LA Woman). This was his home. “If they say I never loved you, you know they are a liar.” "I see your hair is burning, Hills they are on fire.” is reference to the frequent fires we have here in the hills surrounding L.A. The story about Jim dying from a heroin OD are greatly exaggerated, as an autopsy was never preformed. It’s rumored he slipped while in the bathtub a couple of days prior to his death. While he was no stranger to drugs, including alcohol, he may have died as a result of that fall or an OD? No one knows and Pam is dead. Honestly, I don’t believe she knew either. Yes, he was using and drinking. The Doors were truly a great, extremely talented group, with Jim’s lyrics, looks and their musical talent, they were not only unique but never to be imitated--although many tried. RIP.
