Jun 17th 2011!⃝It seems to me that the song is about a girl who left him, but he still loves her. He wishes all the pain of the betrayal would be undone and they could be together again. He's also placing the blame on other people for influencing her to "run away."
The video with the kid always felt like an afterthought. Maybe they thought it conveyed a better image.

He's always referring to being lost without this person and the line that tells you it's about the girl is "let me know just how you feel." That's not question for your kid who's living with their mom in another city.
