Jul 23rd 2019!⃝I believe he is talking to someone he counted on to be there, his father maybe...or some other guiding figure.
Maybe I took for granted
You'd be around (maybe they passed away)
To pick me up on my way down (changes ahead in life)
I thought my feet were planted
Firmly on the ground (I though I could handle things, that I was ok to do life on my own)
'Til one day my whole world came unwound (life changed suddenly, first my dad had a heart attack, and stayed sick for two solid months; and then he was gone)
And like a ball of yarn
Kept neatly on a spool
You held the life together
Of this broken hearted fool (and now I’ve come unwound and I don’t see how to get it back together)
And what once was the exception
Now seems to be the rule (I have to figure this out on my own when I always counted on you to be there)
And there's a burnin' question
A fire in my mind
You always had the answers
The ones I couldn't find (you were my person, the one I’d go to. And you always knew)
So all I'm askin'
Is where are you now? Because I’m lost without you
