AJR - Bang! Lyrics Meaning

This song is absolutely /not/ about suicide, c'mon you guys.

Just because it includes the lines, "Let's go out with a bang!" does not mean it's about suicide. From my point of view, I think this song is about the transition to adulthood.

-"I get up, I get down and I'm jumpin' around
And the rumpus and ruckus are comfortable now
Been a hell of a ride but I'm thinkin' it's time
TO GROW"
I put emphasis on the 'to grow'. He's had lots of fun being a child, but now it's the inevitable part of his life when he must transition to adulthood.

-"So I got an apartment across from the park
Put quinoa in my fridge, still I'm not feelin' grown"
Although they are doing adult-y things, like having quinoa and renting apartments, he still doesn't feel like an adult.

-"Feel like I'm gonna puke 'cause my taxes are due,
Do my password begin with a one or a two?"
He's expressing worry about becoming adult and unsure how to do these types of things.

Just trust me on this, AJR would never write a song about suicide. But I suppose that's just my opinion. :)
